Dave Dyck
Counsellor Profile
Hi! A little bit about me: My name is Dave and I am married to my wife, Katelyn, and we have two wonderful kids. I love to laugh and am trying to incorporate this more into daily life. My wife is a holistic nutritionist who specializes in working with women who struggle with fatigue caused by Multiple Sclerosis. Having a chronic illness myself, we have learned the importance of dealing with this from multiple perspectives.
I have recently completed all requirements for my Master of Counseling and am now working on my internship. In counseling, I wish to create and function from a nonjudgmental stance that is influenced by empathy and compassion. I am influenced by my gentle curiosity and have found this to be useful in supporting clients. I consider it an honour and privilege to journey with you.
In my approach, I seek to be client-centered and hold the belief that the problem is the problem, not the client. I aim to be collaborative in my practice and note that the client is the expert in their own life. I try to use an approach that is influenced by: Solutions-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
I hold a current student membership through Canadian Counsellors and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and am practicing counseling at Creative Concepts & Counselling, under supervision.
Send an email or give us a call to access my services at a reduced rate. My areas of interest would include addressing adversity, stress, relationship issues, assertiveness, healing from addictions, parenting, and other personal or family issues.
